I’m passionate about using my voice to educate, and spark meaningful conversations. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of speaking and lecturing in various capacities, sharing my insights and experiences with diverse audiences.

I’ve delivered talks for universities like Southampton University, exploring how to survive as a freelance journalist in the ever-changing media industry. I was also invited to speak to both undergraduate and postgraduate students at City University in London about the critical responsibility of reporting on marginalised groups with care and integrity.

As an ambassador for Changing Faces UK, I had the incredible opportunity to host podcasts, give talks to hundreds of children about living with a visible difference, and participate in Q&A panels. These experiences have been profoundly rewarding, allowing me to connect with others and break down stereotypes.

I’m also honored to be speaking at the upcoming Disability Journalism Conference, organised by the Disability Journalism Forum. This event will host a variety of panels that aim to educate audiences about reporting on disability and advocates a platform to explore vital topics and advocate for better representation of disabled voices in the media.

Through all these engagements, my mission remains the same: to challenge perceptions, amplify underrepresented voices, and encourage a more inclusive and understanding world.

  • Through her lens, our students learned how much progress is still needed to report fairly on people with disabilities in the UK. We can't wait to have her speak to our students again.Fernando Pizarro, Lecturer
